» Cleaning & Caring for Elan Products
Our products are durable and colour fast and provided you adopt best practice in caring and cleaning for your fireplace you will have years of trouble free service. Please follow these simple steps to ensure your fireplace stays clean.
- Do not place drinks (warm or cold) onto your fireplace without placing a coaster underneath. The material is porous and may absorb liquid over time.
- Do not place pot plants onto your fireplace without ensuring there is a catchpot underneath. Water mixed with soil impurities may stain the material.
- Do not allow candle wax to drip onto the fireplace as this will be difficult to remove.
- Do not dress the fireplace with ornaments or objects for a few weeks after installation. Our products are often manufactured within days of installation and should be allowed to cure fully first.
- In the event liquid is spilt onto your fireplace you should soak it up with kitchen towels and not leave it to soak into the fireplace.
- Most light marks and stains are easily removed with a clean, damp cloth. For more stubborn stains clean, warm, soapy water can be used. Do not be afraid to give any marks a good, solid, rub to remove them.
» Installation Advice
All of our products are sold with a 12 month limited warranty provided the product is sold by an approved Elan stockist and the installation is conducted in accordance with our installation instructions.
We always recommend you allow your local retailer to undertake the installation. Your retailer has the skills and experience to ensure the products are compatible and the installation is a painless and trouble free process.
If however you insist upon using a 3rd party installer you should ensure the person is sufficiently competent to undertake the work and where gas is involved the appropriate CORGI qualifications are in place.
» Heating Appliance Compatibility
Our products are compatible with the majority of standard 16" gas and electric fires currently on the market and your retailer will have advice about the best options. Some high output gas fires may be incompatible with our panels and hearths. You should compare our installation information and the fire manufacturer's product specification to determine suitability.
Elan panels and hearths are not suitable for use with solid fuel fires. However, Elan mantels may be paired with suitable cast insert, marble, granite or natural stone hearths and panels for use with solid fuel fires.
